Description
Mid-18th century house with many later 19th century and 20th
century additions. Original house was 2-storey 3-bay piend
roofed with bowed central bay to garden elevation. Flanking
this, 19th century 2-storey asymmetrical wings, with circa
1930's addition to E. All walling 20th century roughcast with
exposed polished granite margins. Over doorway, inserted
stone panel with a small shield bearing arms: quarterly 3
boars heads and 3 crescents, probably indicating the Carson
family of Rusko Tower.
N elevation: 7-bay with projecting piend roofed 1930's bay to
left, central 3-bay 18th century part with advanced
castellated 2-storey 1930's porch to centre. To right, gabled
dormer to 1st, advanced piended bay to extreme right.
S elevation: 7-bay asymmetrical with advanced piend roofed
end bays, that to left more boldly advanced with bay window
on ground, dormer to 1st. Flanking central 3-bay part, single
bays with dormers to 1st with ball finials. Central 3-bay
18th century part has projecting 3-window canted bay to
centre; French door to ground left. Wide piended bay to
extreme right has 2 windows to ground and 2 gabled dormers
with ball finials to 1st.
All with piended graded slate roofs, tall coped axial stacks.
