Description

Circa 1830. 2-storey (single storey raised) 3-bay, symmetrical classical house with wing walls incorporating pedestrian gates to N and S; advanced central bay and quoins. Droved cream sandstone ashlar; pink coursed rubble to sides and rear. Base course; dividing band course; architraves and panelled aprons to ground floor windows; deep cornice and blocking course; pilasters and cornice to pedestrian gates.

W (DALKEITH ROAD) ELEVATION: steps to central doorway; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; single window to 1st floor above and in bays to outer left and right.

N ELEVATION: central stair window between floors; smaller window to 1st floor outer left; modern lean-to extension at ground floor outer left.

S (MARCHHALL PLACE) ELEVATION: blank wall except for small window to 1st floor outer right.

Plate glass, timber, sash and case to 1st floor; 4-pane to ground. Grey slate piended roof, swept at eaves; coped wallhead stacks (replacement stack to S); moulded cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND PEDESTRIAN GATES: low coursed and coped boundary wall to street with replacement railings; higher coped rubble wall to S and E; pedestrian gates to N and S wing walls; modern shed behind S gate.
