Description

Early 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 3-bay tenement with commercial premises at ground floor. Painted ashlar. Corniced shopfront; 1st floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved margins to window openings at 1st and 2nd floors.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance to shopfront; 2-leaf glazed timber door; letterbox fanlight; multi-paned flanking shop windows. Regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors. 2 canted dormers at attic. Entrance to No 28 via close to outer left (see separate list description to No 32); timber door.

Multi-paned shop windows at ground floor. 6-pane to upper sashes of timber sash and case windows at 1st and 2nd floors (12-pane at 2nd floor to outer right); 4-pane timber sash and case windows at attic. Grey slate roof; coped gablehead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

Statement of Special Interest

Stands opposite Town Hall. Forms part of short terrace with differing cill, eaves, cornice and blocking course levels (see separate list descriptions to Nos 12 and 14, 22, 24 and 26, and 32 New Bridge Street).
