Description

Rebuilt 1783; substantially repaired 1821; recessed W wing and repairs by R B Burnet of Langholm, 1910-11. 2-storey manse; 2 adjoining parallel blocks (the S presumably later) with twin-gabled E elevation with central square porch.

Whitewashed rubble and rendered S elevation; grey ashlar margins.

S ELEVATION: 4 bays, 12-pane sash windows throughout, 2 bays right in shallow bow with ground floor windows enlarged; tall wallhead stack on ramped plinth between remaining bays; roof piended left. 1910-11 recessed wing left single wide bay, circa 1970 conservatory fills re-entrant angle.

Asymmetrical rear (N) elevation; low outbuilding (now including garage) to NW. Corniced stacks; slate roofs.

INTERIOR: several floor/ceiling levels; some decorative cornice and ceiling plasterwork; some recently imported chimney pieces; stone steps to small cellar.

Garden enclosed by ashlar-coped rubble-built wall; gate at N end of E wall, square, stugged ashlar gatepiers with bell-cast caps. Iron gate and railings on S wall.
